Marjorie's Bouquet

August 2, 2018

A painting by my Aunt Marjorie, of white roses in a sapphire vase, hung in the music room of my grandparents’ home.  As a child, I would stare at it thinking, “Someday I’ll be an artist”.  I painted as a child and adolescent.  I took lessons after school from artists in our town.  My freshman year in college I declared myself an art major.  My life took some turns and I didn’t pick up a brush again until I was fifty-eight.  Now at sixty-three I can’t put the brush down.  A flaming passion flows through my veins in memory of my Aunt Marjorie.
